Walking the City, finding my feet…..

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

2.08.13 Slept like a log. My last minute, I will leave all weight behind, who needs a toiletries bag anyway? Meant this steaming little mass of Deet and antibacterial wipes needed to get herself to Boots!! But she got a little sidetracked on the way……..

‘Elliebum Cafe’ and arts, I will find you!! Tim, Insa and Ellie I passed on your regards. After another feast of banana pancakes (no guessing, nor details, as to why I am off the spicy food right now). Gade, the manager and I sat over a coffee talking cafe inspiration highs and lows. She tells me how the people you meet and how you respond to each and everyone of them, whatever their walk of life, reflects on you as an individual, and makes every day worthwhile, that with passion and hope anything is possible.

I got drenched through on the way in the most amazing storm, refreshing in the heat. (Part of the moat that surrounds the old city).

I walk the city. only a mile and a half meters square across the old town. Taking in the sights and smells of the many street vendors and market stalls. As I walk you come into my mind, yep, the lot of you!! With me in my heart wherever I travel and I send out a whole heap of love.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As I just wait for some picture’s to upload I shall just share the contents of my day bag….Anti bacterial gel, Deet, a map, sketch book and pencils, re hydration stomach salts and a phrase book…..how classy am I 🙂 !!

Picture’s have crashed, will add another day……..fruits, spices, character’s.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Wat Phra Sing Temple. I join a mass in front of ‘Phra Singh’ a bronze 15th Century Buddha. The chanting vibrates through me, meditative. The mix of faith and tourism leaves me feeling uncomfortable, the many photographs being taken an invasion of privacy or a way of communicating different cultures to the world??………………..

I did find Boots, and that dribbling shower was like that first camping meal….sooooo good!!

From Streatham Hill to Chaing Mai

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA little belated from 1.08.13. Streatham Hill seems a long time ago. To begin my travels I did some retreading. I sat in our favorite hangover breakfast cafe, where we always recovered after a London night out with the Knee-Fitzroy’s. Contemplating how ‘we’ has now become ‘I’ and how ‘I’ doesn’t just happen overnight, it take’s time to re find and rebuild………

……..and then here I am, with a third of my original packing. My accommodation is simple, traditional and peaceful, very fitting.

Within an hour of arriving I have found the Night Bazaar.

The color’s, sounds and smells fill me. The heat overwhelming at first as it is almost hard to breath in…..and it is cool here, monsoon season!

I stop for a welcomed banana pancake, finding myself smiling as I walk around this bustling city. I only have ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ in Thai at present, but a simple smile and nod of the head brings back warmth and response. It is already a very real reality that these tempting colors, fabrics and gifts come alongside a desperate need of there owner’s to sell. I have however yet declined the many elephant patterned trouser’s!!

Within 2 hours, you would expect nothing less, I have followed my ear’s to the live music. ‘If you got the blue’s, you gotta do somethin’ about it’ sings the happiest looking blue’s band I have ever seen……I think I just did, is my reply 🙂

‘What a difference a day make’s.’ A bar at the back of the market give’s me time to stop with a Singha Beer. I feel like I am sitting on pause, in the middle of a movie going on fast forward in front of me……….xx
